Space the Floor

One of the most important fundamentals in NBA 2K26 is spacing. Good spacing makes the game easier for you and your teammates. Bad spacing clogs the court and kills possessions.

Why Spacing Matters:

  • Opens driving lanes and cuts to attack the basket.

  • Makes kick-out passes to open player more effective.

  • Forces defenders to make choices instead of being able to blitz the ball or help play two defenders.

  • Prevents double-teams and turnovers caused by crowding.

Beginner Tips to Improve Spacing:

  • Don’t cut all the time: Cutting all the time will only make your defender more aware of you and clog the paint for the rest of your team. Allow your guard or ball handler to le

  • Corners are Your Friend: If you’re off-ball, find the corner or opposite wing and hold your spot. This keeps the defense stretched.

  • Don’t Chase the Ball: Resist running toward your teammate with the ball. Instead, stay wide so they have passing angles.

  • Move with Purpose: If someone drives into your area, slide out to the open spot (corner → wing, wing → hash).

  • Watch the Pick & Roll: When a screen is set, don’t drift too close. Stay outside the arc or cut only if your defender helps.

  • Know Your Role: If you’re a shooter, hold your spacing and wait for the kick-out. If you’re a big, either be in the dunker’s spot or set up for a pick-and-roll/pop.
